Polestar 3 offers big battery luxury and a different SUV feel

The Polestar 3 is a large electric SUV that focuses on calm luxury, long distance comfort, and clean Scandinavian design. Despite the name, Polestar 3 refers to launch order, not size, and this model shares its platform with the Volvo EX90. At 4.9 meters long, it is big, but its low profile and aerodynamic details, including a front bonnet spoiler and large rear roof spoiler, make it feel less boxy than a traditional SUV. The tested Long Range Single Motor version uses rear wheel drive, around 300 hp, and a 111 kWh battery, with up to 700 km WLTP range and around 600 km in real use. It is not the fastest version, but 0 to 100 km per hour in 7.8 seconds is enough for daily driving, while efficiency is strongest at steady 80 to 100 km per hour speeds. Inside, the Polestar 3 offers excellent 18 way seats, sustainable Bioattributed Weavetech material, Google infotainment, Bowers and Wilkins audio, a panoramic roof, huge rear space, a 600 liter boot, and a useful frunk. Heavy piano black trim is the main frustration, but the Single Motor version feels like the smartest choice.

The team starts with a small 0.6L turbo kei car, but the project quickly reveals serious rust underneath, including multiple repair patches and rear corrosion that could affect its road test. Despite the bad news, they install HKS upgrades including a custom exhaust, high-flow filter, new spark plugs, lambda sensor, and an upgraded ECU. After some adjustment, the little turbo engine sounds far more aggressive, with the goal of raising power from 63 HP to around 100 HP.

I found a 58-year-old car with only 1,000 miles on it - and bought it

Richard receives an incredible 1968 classic car that Dennis found near Dayton, Ohio, with only around 1,000 original miles and an almost completely untouched appearance. The story is that a young woman got the car around the time she received her driver’s license, but discovered that taking the city bus was cheaper than paying for gas, so the car ended up spending most of its life parked in a garage. It still has all five original tires, an amazingly preserved interior, original markings, dealer-installed air conditioning with its paperwork, and only minor paint touch-ups from decades of storage. The crew believes it may be the lowest-mileage 1968 example they could find records for and debates whether something this original belongs in a museum rather than being modified. After inspecting it closely, Richard decides to keep the remarkable time capsule.

Opel Mokka GSE turns a small electric SUV into a fun road car

The Opel Mokka GSE is the fully electric performance version of the Mokka, bringing rally inspired character to a small crossover package. It shares its Stellantis platform and hardware with the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce and Fiat Abarth 600e, using 280 hp and 350 Nm of torque, almost double the power of the standard electric Mokka. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km per hour takes under 6 seconds, while the front limited slip differential and four piston performance brakes help manage the strong front wheel drive power. Visually, the Mokka GSE stays more understated than its Italian relatives, with a 10 mm lower ride height, 20 inch wheels, yellow brake accents, Alcantara interior trim, metal pedals, a racing style steering wheel, Matrix LED lights, and performance displays included as standard. Its biggest daily advantage is the softer rear side of the front bucket seats, which keeps rear legroom more usable than in its platform siblings. Rear visibility can feel limited because of the large front seats, and the €44,000 price is not cheap, but the Mokka GSE combines strong EV performance with better everyday practicality.

Second-gen 2028 Volvo XC40 updates design, tech, and safety

The biggest news surrounding the all-wheel-drive 2028 Volvo XC40 isn’t really about its major refresh: it’s the fact its all-electric sibling, the updated EX40, won’t be coming to Canada.
